| Scituate has three
elementary schools, one middle school, and one high school. The elementary schools,
Clayville, Hope and North Scituate, educate students from kindergarten through grade 5. In
addition, there is a pre-school program for special needs youngsters at the Clayville
Elementary school. In the spring of 1997 educators, parents and
business people from the town got together to develop a strategic plan which would
establish the future direction for the school system. Through this planning process the
following mission statement, goals and vision statement were developed.

- increase proficiency in the RI Common Core of Learning.
- effectively expand and allocate resources to meet present and future needs.

- make technology equally accessible in all schools to support teaching and
learning.
- encourage on-going staff development.
Vision Statement
The Scituate School System provides a safe, secure
environment where
the importance of teaching and learning is held in high regard.
Our schools reflect the best educational research and practice
ensuring that all students have the opportunity to become
creative thinkers, problem solvers, and effective communicators.
Our students are provided a strong foundation in the
RI Common Core of Learning enabling them to perform
at the highest standards.We are a community of life-long learners
where school, home, and the community come together to accomplish

SCHOOL CALENDAR
Scituate School Committee
The Scituate School Committee consists of five members who are elected at-large for
four-year terms. The School Committee is responsible for establishing general school
policies, which are administered by the Superintendent of Schools
The School Committee meets monthly on the first Tuesday of the month. If needed, an
additional meeting may be called on the third Tuesday of the month.
Executive Sessions, if needed, will precede or immediately follow the open public
meeting.
Consistent with the Open Meetings Law, all meetings are open to the public and the
agenda is published in the Observer on the Thursday prior to the meeting. Meetings begin
at 7:00PM and are typically held in the Town Council Chambers, 197 Danielson Pike, North
Scituate. Several times during the course of the year meetings are held at the schools.
The location of the meeting is published along with the agenda. Any person requiring an
accommodation in order to attend a meeting should call the Affirmative Action Officer at
647-4100 at least two business days in advance.
